Dear Northeastern Conference Family:
Greetings from Gilette, Wyoming!
Currently, 2000 Pathfinders from the Northeastern Conference are participating in the International Pathfinder Camporee in Gilette, Wyoming. Unfortunately, severe weather conditions including repeated thunderstorms and strong winds, have significantly impacted their experience.
In consideration of everyone’s safety, the camporee leadership, in consultation with the North American Division, union, and international leadership, has made the difficult decision to end the Camporee programming one day early, on Friday, August 9.
Due to the forecast of severe thunderstorms, strong winds and hail on Saturday afternoon and evening, we kindly request all possible efforts to facilitate the early departure of the pathfinders. For those unable to depart early, we are collaborating with the camporee leadership to ensure they have shelter to ride out the storm.
As a conference family, please reach out to your clubs, assist them in their planning, and provide the necessary resources for their safe return. We request that you keep our Pathfinders, our staff, the weather, our contingency plans, and the camporee leadership in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Eldeen C. King, D. Min.
President
