A Life Poured Out

Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Pastor Trevor H. C. Baker

In a heartfelt thanksgiving service held on June 8, 2025, Pastor Trevor Baker’s remarkable 53 years of steadfast devotion to ministry were celebrated, marking a legacy of faith and service that has shaped countless lives. Dr. Baker’s profound commitment stood as an enduring testament to spiritual leadership and compassion.

Union and Conference presidents, ministerial colleagues, members and friends throughout the Seventh-day Adventist church congregated to pay tribute to this faithful soldier of the cross.

Dr. Eldeen C. King, President of the Northeastern Conference, captured the essence of the occasion with these solemn yet inspiring words: “We are gathered here today not because a man has died, we are gathered here today because a man has lived. Today we mourn but we honor a life that was poured out in service, unreserved and unrelenting.” Dr. King offered heartfelt reassurance to Pastor Baker’s wife, Eunice, and family, affirming the unwavering support of the Northeastern Conference.

Dr. Paula Olivier, Youth Ministries Director, Northeastern Conference, reflected on Elder Baker’s remarkable contributions during his tenure as Youth Ministries Director, a role he assumed in 1976 and held for 15 years. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for his visionary leadership in establishing enduring initiatives such as Bible Bowl, Youth Olympics, Drama and Choir Festivals, Youth Federations, basketball leagues, and other programs that remain woven within the fabric of the Northeastern Conference.

Dana Edmunds, President of the Regional Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, highlighted the far-reaching influence of Pastor Baker’s ministry, noting that his impactful programs extended beyond the Northeastern Conference to touch every conference across the region.

Dr. Abraham Jules, President of the Atlantic Union Conference, delivered a stirring eulogy, stating, “Even though Pastor Baker’s voice may now be silent, his faith still speaks. His earthly body rests, but his testimony remains. When Jesus returns, He will summon from all directions—north, south, east, and west—and, as Ellen White has said, ‘He will call each of His children by name.’ He that shall come, will come and will not tarry.”

Among the distinguished ministerial colleagues present to honor Pastor Baker’s legacy, along with their spouses, were Dr. Abraham Jules, President, Atlantic Union Conference; Pastor Ted Huskins, Executive Secretary, Atlantic Union Conference; Dr. Leslie Pollard, President, Oakwood University; Dr. Alonso Smith, President, Greater New York Conference; Dr. Ron Smith, President, Southern Union; Dana Edmunds, Executive Director, Office of Regional Ministries; Dr. Donald King, former President, Northeastern Conference and the Atlantic Union; Pastor Larry Bailey, former Executive Secretary, Northeastern Conference; and Dr. David McKenzie, Assistant to the President for Youth and Evangelism, Atlantic Union Conference.

Special appreciation is extended to the ministerial colleagues who offered their heartfelt greetings in absentia, providing additional comfort to the Baker family. Let us continue to pray that God will sustain the Bakers during their time of bereavement.
