The NEC COMM Summit – A two-part series on Artificial Intelligence Adoption and Usage was launched on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, and will continue on May 31st at 11 a.m. The series, hosted by Lavern A. Sturrup, Director, and the Communications Department of the Northeastern Conference, seeks to provide information on AI and how to use it to minister to others, spreading the gospel in our communities and around the world.
AI has been the subject of discussion throughout the world church regarding whether Christians should utilize this tool. “The world has changed, and artificial intelligence has been affecting the way we normally do things. The aim of this two-part series on AI adoption and use is to equip Christians with the tools needed to enhance their everyday lives and, ultimately, to minister effectively in spreading the gospel and leading people to know Jesus Christ,” said Mrs. Sturrup.
In the first session, Pastor André Campbell, guest presenter, emphasized the importance of remaining “the human in the loop” and using Divine Intelligence as a guide while utilizing AI tools.
The attendees received knowledge on the history of AI, the different types, and information on the capabilities of AI. The next session will go into practical applications and usage.
