With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Viola Chapman, former educator and Superintendent of Schools for the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Dr. Chapman joined the Northeastern Conference in 1997 and served as a teacher extraordinaire until 2002, when she was appointed Principal of the Excelsior Elementary School. She served there for ten prominent years. Subsequently, at the Northeastern Conference Constituency Session in 2012, Dr. Chapman was elected to serve as the Superintendent of Schools and worked in that capacity until her
illness in 2021.

Today we mourn the loss of an educational warrior. One who served with excellence and distinction and a voracious love for imparting knowledge to her students. Above all, we mourn the loss of a kind, loving colleague and friend who was dedicated to her family and the needs of others. She loved her Lord and committed her life in service to Him. She will be missed.

The Northeastern Conference family conveys heartfelt condolences to her family: Lloyd (Husband), Christine (daughter), and Chadwick (son)

A Funeral service for Dr. Chapman is scheduled for Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at the Goshen Temple of Seventh-day Adventists, located at 2414-18 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226.
