On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists celebrated Global Youth Day 2026 with the inspiring theme, “Communion in Action.” This message challenged youth to step outside church walls and become the hands and feet of Jesus in their local neighborhoods. For the Northeastern Conference, our youth turned prayer into purpose through tangible acts of community service, served boldly, and showed us what faith beyond words truly looks like.

Spanning 16 federations, Adventist Youth Ministries (AYM) mobilized for more than 60 compassion projects across the Northeastern Conference, making a tangible difference in diverse communities. Whether it was prayer walks, delivering vital resources to shelters, feeding the unhoused, or honoring neighborhood heroes, every initiative reaffirmed that people are seen and valued by our churches. In Lawrence, Massachusetts, the Hispanic Federation of New England North distributed literature and goodie bags, offering prayers and encouragement to over 50 individuals and 30 local businesses. Meanwhile, in New England South, the AYM department partnered with Women’s Ministries on the ‘Women’s Buckets of Gladness’ initiative, providing essential support to women and families. On Long Island, New York, the Adventist Youth Federation joined forces with the New York Blood Center to organize a community blood drive in Hicksville, extending help far beyond its borders.

“A blood transfusion can be a barrier between life and death.” said Christina Williams, President, Long Island Youth Federation, Northeastern Conference. ‘The participants of the blood drive were reminded of that with every donation. Christ thought of us when His blood was shed for our lives, and in like manner, the Long Island Youth Federation thought of the lives of others.’

These acts translated into real-life results, with their donations projected to save 48 lives.

After a day of service in the Queens Federation, Queensboro Temple collaborated with the Greater New York Conference to host a “Youth Preach Fest” for the Adventist Youth. This event featured young preachers from both the Northeastern and the Greater New York Conferences, who delivered powerful messages highlighting compassion as a reflection of Christ’s character. Youth were also recognized by Senator Leroy Comrie, of New York’s 14th Senate District, for their dedicated planning and execution of this year’s Global Youth Day compassion projects.

Beyond the day’s events, Global Youth Day left a profound and lasting impression on both the community and the youth who served. Although data is still being collected, the positive outcomes were unmistakable: thousands of lives were touched, seeds of hope were sown, and a renewed sense of confidence blossomed.

Looking forward, the Northeastern Conference is dedicated to fostering relationships, making a positive impact in communities, and reflecting the compassion of Jesus by seeking the good of others, showing sympathy, and meeting real needs. Because compassion is more than a moment—it is a way of life, carried forward in every life touched and every act of kindness.
